Smart Agroforestry Tanjungsari Sub-District Summer Course INSTIPER Yogyakarta 2024
The earth is already old and increasingly suffering. Population growth is also the reason that the earth's carrying capacity is becoming increasingly burdened. Restoration is a necessity and has become a global mission, a national mission, up to the necessity of fulfilling technical tasks. Sector-based approach in the development always encounters obstacles when faced with harmonization, integration, synchronization, coordination and collaboration. This went on for decades.
In the future, development should be approached with a landscape approach that eliminates sectoral walls. Then understanding of the landscape approach is necessary. The INSTIPER Yogyakarta 2024 Summer Course intend to prepare human resources for landscape planners with high quality. This program will continue, until finally sustainable landscape managers can be generated in various regions.
Kapanewon Tanjungsari was selected to be the destination for the 2024 INSTIPER Yogyakarta Summer Course because (i) Kapanewon Tanjungsari covers a geographical landscape from hills to beaches, (ii) a variety of human activities from household, community, to corporate life, (iii) ecologically vulnerable due to karst, (iv) examples of smart life with high resilience and with its own power. The community is able to develop life despite facing external challenges such as the watershed in Gunung Kidul are subterranean.
This has triggered farmers in Tanjungsari to strive hard to find flat and level land, because if they insist to open agricultural land it will damage the environment and lead to long-term disasters. The combination of experience and understanding of vulnerable locations makes Tanjungsari farmers considered very wise in many aspects.
"Investment can become an environmental issue if missteps occur, leading to environmental unsustainability. The watershed approach is considered important because Gunung Kidul, which has karst natural resources, must be protected." said Prof. Ir. Chay Asdak, MSc., Ph.D, as speaker.
The important thing is that the INSTIPER Yogyakarta 2024 Summer Course Program also invited delegates from ASEAN, this is intended to show Indonesia's commitment in pioneering the movement to achieve sustainability through the capacity of sustainability managers in every landscape-based activity.
